I was also not awarded this achievement even though I reached well above 50 life in a starter deck duel using the white/black deck.

I just concluded a game of Starter Deck Duel in which I reached a life total of 56, but conceded the game due to a lost board state. I was not awarded the Test of Endurance achievement after.
