Network maurader and Prototype X-8
Network Marauder Does Not Trigger from Prototype X-8 Artifact Copies
Summary
When Prototype X-8 creates a Robot Artifact copy of Ravenous Chupacabra, Network Marauder does not trigger even though the copied creature appears to meet the trigger requirements.
Steps to Reproduce
- Have Network Marauder on the battlefield.
- Have Prototype X-8 on the battlefield.
- Cast Ravenous Chupacabra.
- Allow Ravenous Chupacabra to enter the battlefield and Prototype X-8's ability to resolve.
Expected Result
Prototype X-8 creates a copy of Ravenous Chupacabra that is a Robot Artifact in addition to its other types.
Since Ravenous Chupacabra has mana value 4, the copied permanent should enter the battlefield as an artifact with mana value 4.
Network Marauder should trigger when this artifact enters the battlefield.
Actual Result
The copied Ravenous Chupacabra enters the battlefield successfully.
Both Ravenous Chupacabra enter-the-battlefield abilities trigger, confirming that the copy entered the battlefield.
However, Network Marauder does not trigger at all.
Additional Notes
- Original creature tested: Ravenous Chupacabra (mana value 4).
- The issue appears to be specifically related to the artifact copy created by Prototype X-8.
- The copied creature is clearly entering the battlefield because its ETB ability triggers.
- Expected behavior is that Network Marauder recognizes the copied creature as an artifact with mana value 3 or greater entering the battlefield.
This may indicate that:
- The copied creature is not being recognized as an artifact for Network Marauder's trigger check, or
- The copied creature's mana value is not being evaluated correctly when it enters the battlefield.
I have had this happen for any creature cast of similar or greater cmc.
