Nadu, Winged Wisdom Brawl Ban
Please reconsider the blanket ban on Nadu, Winged Wisdom in unranked Brawl, particularly by restoring its previously rebalanced Arena version.
The distinction between the two versions matters. Rebalanced Nadu limited its ability to two triggers total each turn, substantially restricting the explosive scaling of the original card. Banning Nadu when tabletop cards were reverted removed an already restricted commander because of the stronger version’s potential.
New commanders such as Aerid Konstrari highlight why this deserves another look. Aerid generates permanent mana artifacts through entering and dying, rewarding token, sacrifice, copying, and recursion strategies. Its basic ramp requires no additional targeting engine. Rebalanced Nadu, meanwhile, requires targeting spells or abilities to generate value and remains constrained by its shared trigger limit.
This comparison does not prove that Nadu is weaker in every matchup. It does show why powerful synergy alone should not determine legality. The relevant questions are how consistently a deck assembles its engine, how quickly it wins, how much interaction opponents retain, and how long its turns take.
Wizards has already defended keeping Paradox Engine legal based on its actual performance and limited metagame presence. Please apply that same evidence-based approach to rebalanced Nadu: evaluate its win rate, concession rate, turn duration, and performance within appropriate matchmaking bands.
I recognize the concerns about original Nadu’s repetitive play patterns. My request is a monitored return of the restricted Arena version, with appropriate matchmaking and a published explanation of the results. That would preserve a distinctive commander strategy while directly addressing the behavior that made the original problematic.
