Game-breaking bug – Surveillance Phantasm unable to attack after surveilling with an empty library (Limited)
Hello,
I encountered a game-breaking bug during a Limited match in Reality Fracture, which directly caused me to lose a game I should have won.
What happened:
I had Surveillance Phantasm and Fblthp, Impossibly Lost on the battlefield.
My library was completely empty.
I controlled a Jace planeswalker token and Way of the Healer.
I activated Jace's −2 loyalty ability granted by Way of the Healer, creating a 2/2 Cadet token and surveilling 1.
Despite the surveil ability resolving, Surveillance Phantasm was still unable to attack, as if I hadn't surveilled that turn.
Expected behavior:
According to Comprehensive Rule 701.25d, surveilling should still count even when the library is empty.
Surveillance Phantasm should therefore have been able to attack, since its condition ("As long as you've scried or surveilled this turn") was fulfilled.
Impact on the match:
My intended win condition was Fblthp, Impossibly Lost, whose ability allows me to win the game when my opponent takes combat damage while my library is empty.
I had set up this interaction specifically to achieve that victory condition, which I also understand is associated with an in-game achievement.
However, because Surveillance Phantasm incorrectly remained unable to attack, I was prevented from executing my winning play and ultimately lost the match.
This was particularly frustrating because it happened in a Limited event, where each loss has a direct impact on the event's rewards.
Request:
Could you please investigate this interaction and fix the bug?
I would also appreciate compensation for the affected Limited event, as this issue directly resulted in an otherwise avoidable loss.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
