I'd forgotten that Up The Beanstalk triggered purely on mana value and not casting cost so, yeah, this definitely deserved a ban given the low gating for so many cards having casting-cost discounts.

One more reason to further restrict, but not eliminate, resolution mana cost differences from casting-cost.

Most recently, the Overlords and Rooms from Duskmourn like https://scryfall.com/card/dsk/68/overlord-of-the-floodpits and https://scryfall.com/card/dsk/43/bottomless-pool-locker-room .

This would be a wonderful feature to reduce support costs too since folks could do replays to understand whether or not their recollection of the game's events really was a bug or simply a misunderstanding of game mechanics.

This would not, remotely, be a difficult feature to imeplent since the game already has automated play in the tutorial and all game moves are already logged.

    Kudos for the suggestion!

I have seen this consistently too. I'm running macOS Sonoma 14.3 (23D56).

Try the "Repair Game Files" option under "Adjust Options > Report A bug > Repair Game Files. The Adjust Options menu has the gear icon on the far right corner of the Home screen's menu bar.

Yes. This sadly this does happen and is "working as intended". Decks are "locked" prior to events during registration. You won't be able to register a deck with the banned cards in future events.

As a brief follow-up, I made a 4-copy Vivi Ornitier deck called "Vivi Abuse" that just loaded up Vivi with counters + Agatha's Soul Cauldron (to re-use Vivi's abilities from graveyard).

I hardly got to play it. Opponents just concede as soon as Vivi has counters. Yeah. I've only ever said this about Cori-Steel Cutter, but **** this card!

One of the unfortunate knock-on effects of having mega-aggro and mega-ramp is forcing competitive decks to just simply populate redundant versions of the same strategy as they only have a few turns to execute it.

This obviates any room for a "plan B" in both main and sideboarding, reduces successful deck variance, and make the game far less strategic.

More turns allows for more choice and a far richer game-play experience.

You can just play Standard. I agree that Alchemy is a broken format and would personally never play it or in formats where those cards are included.

The cards just don't go through the same level of Q/A balance-testing as IRL analog cards.

I've been bitten by this in the interface too. It's entirely the player's fault for not understanding the card, but the interface should be more explicit about auto-dismissal of these sorts of triggers.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the trigger for auto-equipping on Raubahn, Bull of Ala Mhigo https://scryfall.com/card/fin/151/raubahn-bull-of-ala-mhigo is explicitly put on the stack before being dismissed.

The interface should work this way for all such "missed triggers".

I'll go further and suggest a ban on the future publication of *any* cards with explicit alternative win conditions. Alternative win conditions (yes this includes Toxic) are a blight on Magic.

Alternative win conditions mean that, occasionally, opponents are playing the same game to achieve entirely different goals--that's really playing a "different" game and results in poor competition.

There's a reason all popular games and sports have singular win conditions unless some sort of "overtime" is called after a great deal of "normal" regulation play.

Unfortunately, this is a known bug that's been in the client for a few months and WotC has yet to issue a fix, let alone a publicly acknowledge it.

WotC doesn't care. Over the years, I've reported many players for unsportsmanlike conduct and it's never made a difference.

Bugs and crashes do occur and, unfortunately, due to the nature of the underlying (Unity) engine's design, both can appear like bad conduct to the other player.

According to the official rules, delaying a game is considered cheating, but (again) WotC doesn't care. As far as I can tell, there's been zero moderation for player conduct. Those same bad actors are still at it--years later.

I simply refuse to play (auto-concede) against repeat offenders in any match or event. It's not worth my precious play-time and sanity to have any other policy. WotC doesn't moderate, so I do it.

If you are roping, you are part of the problem. Just concede and move on.

Bugs happen. Take screenshots and upload the log (like you did).

Update. These lands are now back in the store.

I believe these lands were part of a "Daily Deal" in the store. Those offers expire after 24 hours.

Honestly, WotC is leaving money on the table here as every player I know would pay good money to have just "their perfect" set of full art lands by their favorite artists, but they still only offer them as part of Daily Deals or events.

Yep. This combo isn't a *bug* IRL, but it does result in *wrong* (unactionable infinite combo) behavior in Arena. I just don't play with or against (insta-concede) Bloodthirsty Conqueror because of this issue.

I disagree. Offensive mill shouldn't exist as a game mechanic. It prevents players from playing the cards they put into their deck.

Additionally, if you're playing such a grossly oversized deck compared to the format, *you* are part of the problem and you *should* expect to have a bad time.

Sadly, this is a known issue. WotC didn't fully think-through the ramifications of creatures which can grow to 100s+ power. I imagine the interface will be patched in the next release.

I concur. Apples vs Apples is the policy at LGS FNMs. You simply don't get to play your deck of 150 cards in a 75 card format. The same should apply on Arena.

I'm happy with a small percentage (~20%) of wiggle-room for folks trying a new strategy etc., but no more.

Thankfully, it's gotten better since Arena's early days, but I still insta-concede roughly 1/5th of my matches solely due to grossly off-format decks.
