What was the sorcery?
Keep in mind that the 'protection' mechanic only actually provides protection against a specific set of actions: Damage, Enchanting/Equipping, Blocking, and Targeting (DEBT). See https://draftsim.com/mtg-protection/
Therefore, even with protection against sorceries, note that certain types of sorceries that don't meet those conditions will still get through — such as Wrath of God, as this isn't dealing damage to or targeting any of your permanents. To protect against board wipes like this, you might consider playing something like Avacyn instead (https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/14/avacyn-angel-of-hope)

For #1: enable the "Fixed rules text size" setting under the "gameplay" options menu. As the name suggests, this will ensure all card text is fixed-size and will scroll instead.
For #3: as a stopgap, make sure you've upgraded to iOS 18, as this contains a new "Game Mode" feature, which is explained at https://apps.apple.com/us/story/id1760172878
"Game Mode turns on automatically when you launch a game, minimizing background activity on your iPhone or iPad for smoother gameplay and more consistent frame rates. That’s especially helpful when you’re trying to be the last one standing in a PUBG Mobile match or take the checkered flag in Disney Speedstorm.
Game Mode also improves the responsiveness of wireless game controllers and AirPods by reducing latency. "
