Baleful Mastery Issue
Baleful Mastery, the black mastery card from Strixhaven, is STILL broken on Arena. My opponents continue to cast the spell for the alternate cost (1B) and I STILL DO NOT GET TO DRAW A CARD as is clearly stated on the card!!! I am losing value in drafts, sealed, and constructed as players cast the card for the 1B cost and never pay a penalty for the discounted cost. Please fix already!!

9/10/21 - Another occurrence where I did not draw a card from the Student Cost of Baleful Mastery: I activated my Hall of the Strom Giants, blue rare land from AFR, it has Ward 3, my opponent (out of desperation) tried to exile it with Baleful Mastery and only paid the student cost. The Ward ability saved my animated land but I did NOT DRAW A CARD because Baleful Mastery didn't resolve. Once again, THIS IS NOT HOW BALEFUL MASTERY WORKS ACCORDING TO JUDGE RULES. IF THE STUDENT COST IS PAYED THE OPPONENT (me in these examples) DRAWS A CARD BEFORE ANY OTHER ASPECT OF THE SPELL RESOLVES! Would love this issue to be fixed already.

So it is 8/26/21 and 1138 EST, this is a NEW OCCURANCE where Baleful Mastery is still not coded properly. I included 2 logs below...my opponent paid the STUDENT COST for Baleful Mastery, I DID NOT GET TO DRAW A CARD WHEN THAT HAPPENED AND I SHOULD, I cast Jwari Disruption to counter the spell, and because I did I did not get to draw a card. THIS IS NOT HOW THE RULES FOR THE CARD BALEFUL MASTERY AND THE STUDENT COST SHOULD WORK!! Ask a judge and get it corrected already...please.
I tried to include the logs but my comment wouldn't post with the logs included.

This is an issue that should have been fixed by now, but I will try again to have Wizards and the Arena team correct the issue. Ask a Judge: THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID PAYING ALL PARTS OF AN ALTERNATE COST! You also read a spell from the top down and resolve as much of a spell as you can...also per every judge out there. With rotation about to occur, and likelihood that more people play Baleful Mastery, and more mono-green players play Snakeskin Veil which grants a creature Hexproof (and a +1/+1 counter), there are going to be a lot more players not getting to draw a card when the Student Cost, aka Alternate Cost, of Baleful Mastery is cast. I do not know how a counterspell interacts with Student Cost Baleful Mastery but I assume the player whose creature is targeted but casts the Counter to protect said creature doesn't get to appropriately draw a card.
Additionally, when the Student Cost of Baleful Mastery is spent, the owner of targeted creature or planeswalker should get to draw their card BEFORE the exile portion of the spell resolves. This way the player can potentially draw into a spell that saves the creature...that is supposed to be part of the risk of the Student Cost. Please fix this issue already, it has been months since this card was released!!

As of 8/24/21 the Baleful Mastery Student Cost Issue still has not been fixed. I gave my Hullbreacher Hexproof in response to the Student Cost of Baleful Mastery. Ask any judge, you resolve the spell as much as possible in the order it is written on the card!! "If the 1B (Student cost) was paid, an opponent draws a card." Then after that it says "Exile target creature or planeswalker". I again DID NOT DRAW A CARD; it should not matter that I gave my creature Hexproof...it's part of the cost of casting Baleful Mastery for 1B. I (or the opponent) should draw the card no matter what and then the exile effect should try to resolve!! This is like Daze in Legacy where you have to return an Island to pay an alternate cost. Force of Will, Force of Negation, Force of Vigor - where you have to exile the appropriate card to cast the spell. The Evoke Mythic Cycle of Elemental creatures just released in Modern Horizons 2...IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE SPELL RESOLVES, THE PLAYER STILL MUST PAY THE "ALTERNATE" CASTING COST!!!

This has happened to me a couple times in casual play. I thought I was missing something and re-read the card a few times, still confused. I'm glad I found this and I hope it gets fixed soon.
