The goldspan dragon is triggering the ability when targeted by abilities like the ranger class's triggered ability, in its text it says "when it's targeted by a spell". Is it right?

Goldspan also creates a treasure when it attacks, so you may be confusing the Ranger Class trigger with the dragon's attack trigger
