Product Suggestion Leave Historic Alone
With the new Alchemy format, can we please have it separated from Historic? You are going to be nerfing cards considering the standard environment, please leave them alone for Historic decks.

To be clear, I want four lines:
- Standard that runs alongside paper (no ANB cards!)
- Standard with Alchemy (and ANB)
- Historic that is a strict subset of Vintage (no ANB or digital-only J21 cards!)
- Historic with Alchemy (and ANB/J21 full set) -

Historic was the only format Arena players had where we had some crossover with Modern and Pioneer players. Adding Alchemy rebalanced cards to Historic will make it much harder for players from those formats to coexist, communicate, share play experience and grow further into the game. I hate this move, and the irresponsibility behind it makes my skin crawl.

Whale here. Leave the eternal formats alone, players invest time and resources into the game, for you to twist it into something totally different. If you are going to change the game, and this isnt what we signed up for or spent time or resources on…give me my money back. This isnt MTG anymore.

I dont even play historic, but I can easily empathize with the pain of those who do. Historic is supposed to be eternal, makes no sense to keep it up with the current standard meta balances just cause its "live".

Choosing "live rebalancing" of Historic cards kills my enjoyment of the format. I drop $50 a set, without fail, because I love having a large collection to play with in Historic. I don't mind that not all of these cards are playable in the format. I *absolutely* mind having playable cards nerfed without compensation or recourse. For that matter, I hate the idea of card nerfing at all. The lack of such behavior is one of the deciding factors that saw me playing Magic instead of Hearthstone or Legends of Runeterra.
I have stopped playing since yesterday's update. If this change moves forward, that will be true indefinitely. I will of course refrain from putting money into a game I do not play, so this is directly affecting your bottom line.
The only marginally acceptable alternative, if you insist on this nonsense, is introducing another "paper" non-rotating format. Give us Pioneer and I can play on the client while mourning the lost opportunity of Historic. Otherwise, maybe it's time to give up on the digital card game space, or maybe Pokemon will avoid live rebalancing of their cards. I guess we'll see.

Why are you destroying historic? I will no longer be spending money on this game, unless you preserve historic as its own format.

The biggest problem I see with this is the nerfing of cards for historic and historic brawl. The lack of compensation for changes that can completely ruin a cards viability is a huge feel-bad opportunity. I don’t want to craft cards that might one day be one unplayable and get no wildcards. It’s bad enough I won’t be able to play these cards anymore, why take away the compensation for it as well?

It should also be noted that cards that are too powerful for Standard might not even be playable in Historic.

I guess an easy solution would be to split Alchemy in a standard and historic version and leave standard and historic as they are. Additionally I'd recommend to highlight altered cards what exactly is changed from the paper version for quick reference.

Players like historic because it is a pseudo-eternal format. This policy would destroy the eternal quality of the format and there would be no place to play with unchanged standard cards once they rotate.

I'm against the whole idea but at the very least do a alchemy historic and a regular paper historic. Don't divide the community.

Howdy - Please leave Historic alone and allow the cards to function as printed, unless errata'd for all game modes, thank you!

My thoughts are that either cards remain as printed in historic or perhaps only rebalanced for their duration in standard and returned to as printed for rotation. An exception can be made for banned cards if they can be rebalanced to be played in historic fine but leave others as printed. Also at this point it’s really time to do what the community asks and actually fix the economy, as alchemy throws a wrench into the works. Not to say that some policies are actually good like not having rebalanced cards as separate collectibles but there are still problems. And again the community wants it know WOTC stop developing new stuff until the client is solid and reliable, stop adding “crazy ways to play” that we didn’t ask for when you aren’t giving us what we are asking like pioneer or perhaps multi player

I took a long break from Magic: Arena. When I came back, I was able to quickly build a competitive Historic deck, adding just a few additions to cards I already had.
On the face of it, WotC (or Hasbro) might not like that I caught up without spending money. But the thing is, I *did* end up spending money. I ended up pre-ordering Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow. If it was harder to get into Magic because there's no stable format, I might just not have bothered.
The team clearly understands that there's a meaningful difference between "paper" and "digital" versions of the game. I have zero problems whatsoever with adding new digital formats with different rules and different approaches to design. However, these changes mean that there will no longer be a paper-like, non-rotating format. That's a dealbreaker for me, and it directly translates to no longer spending money on the game.
(I also dislike adding digital-only cards to Historic.)
If they introduced this alongside another paper-parity, non-rotating format, like Pioneer (which, per the announcement, is at least a couple years away) I wouldn't have an issue. But this is directly taking something away from the game.
And that's not even touching on the really tight-fisted wildcard policy.

I really like the Alchemy concept and am happy to play it, but it shouldn't have any effect on Historic. Historic should be left alone, like Standard, where the cards are exactly as they were on paper.
My main reason for stating this is that balance in Alchemy is going to be different than balance in Historic and so tweaks in Alchemy may produce effects in Historic that are unwanted. We know Alchemy will have a different base of cards than Historic and as such it makes no sense to be rebalancing digital cards when those cards are across two formats, Alchemy and Historic.
It's also true that Arena needs an "eternal" format where the power level is higher than Standard, and Historic was that format -- but if cards are nerfed in Alchemy, and that means they are nerfed in Historic, then Historic isn't that high power format, and the result is Arena has nothing -- no Legacy, no Modern, no Pioneer, and really, no Historic in the sense that you aren't playing the cards the way they were designed if it's "new Historic" i.e. Alchemy nerfs and buffs and digital cards that were never released in paper.

please keep +alchemy separate. Why can't we have Standard/Historic and then Standard+/Historic+ ?
Make those separate and if you're worried about cannibalizing queues, you will see how many people prefer what. I would have NEVER thought I'd vote with my wallet, but this is not what I signed up for. I want the MTG experience in digital form, NOT a digital "variant" of MTG. I f I would have know this were the case, I would have never gone into historic. And the "ammended" cards do not get WCs ??? Come ooon. Please adjust either the touching of historic, WCs per ammended cards, or a dusting system for historic cards at least. -

Look, Wizards. It's okay to add digital only cards, but it's not okay to CHANGE the paper cards.
Or at least give us some freaking refund or dusting system
