I've been playing Magic for 23 years, and Arena since the Beta. I drop ~$100 a set. I love Arena, and for the most part have not had any issues with the decisions so far... until now.

I don't like the idea of Alchemy (though I get why its a cool thing to try) but that's fine, I can simply ignore it. What I can't ignore is the effects Alchemy has on Historic. I fail to see any reason why cards that are too powerful in Standard need to be nerfed in Historic. It makes literally 0 sense to me. I really, really liked Historic before this change and even the digital-only cards from Jumpstart even though I was apprehensive at first. But this is too far, and with a weeks notice before the changes happened too.

And what about new players? This is already probably one of the most complex games in history... why confuse players even more when their cards do one thing in one format and another thing in another?

Please please PLEASE revert these changes for Historic at the minimum.

Yes, this is a real problem! Arena absolutely need an eternal format with no digital cards. The first historic was very good, the new historic is horrible. Without a non-digital eternal format I don't think I'll want to play for much longer.

Historic is my favorite format. Or WAS.

I have been playing since '93, and historic is as close as I can come to my old decks. Even then WotC meddled, changing definitions for how trample or banding worked. But you did not rewrite the text on the cards themselves.

We earn these cards through our money or our time. Changing them without reparation is WRONG. Shoving a change of this magnitude onto all the historic players is WRONG. And trying to convince us that 2 cards with the same name and art, but different abilities, are really the same card is DECEPTIVE. We are neither blind nor stupid.

Until this problem is resolved, and as long as alchemy is inflicted upon us long-time loyal players, I can see no earthly reason to buy anything, craft anything, or play anything on your platform. So I won't.

I uninstalled Arena and will not reinstall it until (at minimum) this issue is fixed.

I spent all my wildcards and finally jumped into historic after a year of being on arena and was loving the format literally days before the alchemy announcement... ouch.

I love paper magic and do not want anything to do with the digital card mechanics. Listen to your community and leave historic free from alchemy.

uninstalled as soon as i found out it carries into historic, not worth money anymore everyone i've talked to agrees, uninstall the game and don't give them any money until they fix it or they wont

Have certainly spent for the last time on MTGA. Shame for WotC with Christmas right around the corner.

It's like ya'll sit around wondering "how do we make this less enjoyable today?"

I know I'm not the first one to say this so I'll keep it brief... don't mess with our Historic format. The game is too expensive to be changing cards we planned around whenever you feel like it.

I bought many passes during the past two years and logged in pretty much every day.

I am now at day3 of no Arena, enjoying TFT who has not such a predatory economy.

I only play historic brawl, but this has impacted that format as well. It turns out that it did me a favor, though. This update has made me realize that I don't enjoy arena anymore, and I haven't for a while.

When my deck rotated out, and I didn't have enough wild cards to build a new one, I was forced to stop playing standard. When historic brawl was introduced I chose it as my format of choice, but it's mostly devolved into the same things over and over.

I now realize that there really is no reason for me to continue playing arena. Since I'm no longer playing ranked, there is no real progression other than grinding out levels. I hate it, and I'm done.

I like play old cards like Teferi, Lightning Helix, Narset and so on. But I strongly dislike digital cards and digital mechanics. By my opinion, immutability of cards is strong side of MtG, it is its preference over Heartstone, Gwent and other computer card games. So, please, make separate eternal paper (non-digital) format of game. Separate version of Historic without digital cards (including ones were added in Historic Horizons) will be OK.

Otherwise I will deeply consider to uninstall the game.

I am now on Day 3 of not playing MTGA, and I am actively mentioning to friends that the game is not recommended.

It is no longer installed.

It will remain uninstalled until one of these things happen:

1) Historic & Historic Brawl changes are rolled back
2) A second untainted Historic & Historic Brawl queue is added
3) Pioneer is brought to MTGA. It doesn't need to have all pioneer legal cards. It just needs to be eternal.

This is non-negotiable.

I have sunk a lot of money into MTGA.

Starting to think about what I can sink my money into instead.

Time to short Hasbro stock. Should get my money back in no time.

As has been said by many here, Alchemy in general is fine. But having it completely corrupt Historic is awful. Either have 2 versions of Historic like you do now with Standard, or have Historic use traditional Standard versions of cards.

Also, no WCs when a card is nerfed is ridiculous.

At least have a separate format with Alchemy cards and remove Alchemy from Historic. Please!

Screwing up historic with your forcing altered cards on us and cards that dont exist in paper magic is really killing this game for me. Youre not hearthstone. People love magic for being magic. Why try so hard to be something youre not? Seriously... Think its time I move back to MTGO permanently. Arenas just becoming more unenjoyable by the day. I was absolutely loving Historic Brawl.. but thanks to alchemy thats all fkd up.

Rebalanced cards were fun for events, but the players do not want them in historic. Time to listen WOTC

The only reason I play arena is for historic and I only spend wild cards for historic.

Someone let me know when this **** is out of my format so I can reinstall.

Give us a proper historic eternal format matching paper cards, without balanced and digital cards. That is what people wants, playing real magic on a digital platform.

Historic was one of the healthiest format atm, an awesome place to be, please keep it that way. I don't care much about pioneer, i do like that jumpstart, anthologies and modern horizons cards brought the powerlevel inbetween modern and pioneer, it was great.

Just give us historic as it was, with only real paper cards and keep adding remastered sets.

At the height of my time with Arena, it feels, I have just finished uninstalling it. I don't have a consistent way to play paper magic, and my Arena collection vastly outnumbers my paper collection, so my way to play this game I was really getting into has just been taken away from me. I don't regret spending the $50 investment into a mastery pass bundle that has given me a consistent way to keep earning cards and gems for several expansions now, and I probably would have kept slowly dropping money into it as my passion grew. But now if I want to play magic in the little free time I have, I no longer have a way of playing the way I want to.

Don’t nerf cards without compensation!

Alchemy has too many rares and mythics.
