Brawl and Historic Brawl are broken and noone pays attention
Historic Brawl and Brawl is supposedly a fun format that you get to play your retired cards, but also find home for all this otherwise junk cards that you open in boosters. This is not true, however. Due to the nature of 1v1, rather than multiplayer, everyone plays the most efficient and not the cards "to experiment". Commanders (like Kinnan, Niv-Mizzet) are incredibly OP. The algorithm cares for the commander and not the deck built. Summary, there is no room for casual games, as everyone plays hyper-efficient cards. Getting thoughtseized or duressed turn 1 is bad in constructed, imagine how much worse this becomes in a singleton format. Kinnan decks ramp for 8-10 mana by turn 3-4. Fix the mode - it is no longer fun and I am getting this feedback from pretty much my whole local community.

Arena is bull.. i either am forced into playing low mana cards, extra removal and protection. If a four mana commander doesnt make it out safely its first cast, odds are your pummeled and may as well quit and start over. Build better decks? Where are the people who like to see janky interactions? Volo mutate always makes me laugh and i want to see how you finish it out. Oh... another mono black discard... and you remove my creatures until turn 5 and im out of hand... this format needs a four player set up. They also need a way to punish stallers. I want my coins too, and if my cards played out better than yours and your sad, tough crunchies. Anyone who wants to play janky tribal or obscure wincons feel free to add me as a friend on arena. Most of my decks are EDH I have at home or as close as possible. Also F@#% alchemy, those cards are bulls. And im not a fan of the overpowered LoR cards either.

WotC doesn't agree. The format is dead and the only people who play it are playing top tier commanders. They ruined it by adding alchemy. They ruined it by ruining the casual and promoting wins only. Wizards of the Coast can really only save the format of online commander by actually not having anything to do with it. This company is terrible and run by a bunch of greedy jerk offs. It's exactly why after coming back I find myself ready to uninstall and quit. WotC and Hasbro killed Magic, they killed magic arena. They kill pretty much everything they can get their grubby little hands on. Yugioh has a more caring corporate overlord in the form of Konami. I hope Hasbro goes bankrupt and their board of directors lose everything ( I would include their thoughts but they apparently have none since WotC can't balance ****.)

Amen.
It's so disheartening to have witnessed all the efforts from folks like LRR's Ben Wheeler https://wiki.loadingreadyrun.com/index.php/Benjamin_Wheeler to get alternative "casual" formats into Arena only to have them spoiled by WotC's lack of leadership and common-sense software product management.

As you can tell, Wizards don't care. It has been the same for EDH/Commander since fans invented the format. At first Wizards would not support the format, because it did not help sell packs of new cards. They gradually and, I feel, reluctantly tried to add formats that made standard cards, relevant. Pioneer, planechase etc. But, these formats never had the success of Commander.
Nowadays, Wizards has taken to promoting the format by finding it a lucrative way to sell reprints. Both Modern and EDH feed the reprint market. They also release pre-constructed commander decks that have success where their previous pre-contructs failed.
With that being said, you would think that Arena would have been a great environment for EDH. Instead though it allowed the format in Historic Brawl. True to form this is limited in the fact that it is single player only and not ranked.
Being a singleton and single player format players build decks that win, no matter what. Negating the fun aspect of building a deck of cards that you just like and want to experiment with. Most times, when you spend hours building a fun tribal or inventive deck, you face an OP infinite combo/ramp deck that kicks your butt before you can even see if your deck works.
Combine this with the fact that most out of control EDH decks usually have at least a couple of other players help balance the playing field. Along with players that quit when they don't get the ideal starting hand. Despite having a free mulligan!!!
Anyway. As someone that loves the game and has been playing since 1994, I am never astounded by how WOTC consistently manages to upset its base. The players that keep them making money. If we want to play, we have to suck it up. End of.
So, much like with the paper version, I go through periods where I play Arena a lot and then stop for many months. When I begin to miss the creativeness and fun side of magic I go back to playing a lot. After a spell of playing against annoying decks. I stop. Rinse and repeat.
MTGO has multi player commander. But, the software is stuck in 1995. Shame. If it looked and felt like Arena, it would be much more popular. Perhaps that's why it doesn't.
End of rant.

Brawl is not a fun/casual format in Arena. Arena gives too much incentive for people to win, so people make decks that win. Brawl needs a ranked mode for those who want to win all the time and a "play" mode to try to catch more of the casual players. Additionally, there needs to be a bot mode so people can test/experiment with their decks without having to join a match and get destroyed by someone on turn 4.

Agreed. The fact they keep allowing garbage alchemy cards in, the fact that I can't play janky fun casual games because every opponent commander is either Esika, Golos, Jodah, or Nicol Bolas. Terrible format that wizards doesn't care because someone will still spend money on overpowered garbage cards. It should have been the best format and yet wizards managed to find a way to ***** it up. Just like everything else including balancing the game. I would play it more if they actually balanced commanders and stopped releasing broken things, or if they ACTUALLY seperated commanders into tiers. However they won't so I think it's arrivederci to Arena and I'll go back to Hearthstone or even Master Duel over this garbage game.

It's soo bad, Being able to use all the planeswalkers as commanders (for example Liliana of the Veil) AND using all the arena specific cards that are totally busted are making brawl a really un-fun format. I refuse to play with those types of cards or decks. It's toxic. Of course hasbro sits back with their thumb where the sun doesn't shine and could care less how trashy the format it. Either way, Arena is rigged, you almost always see your opponent with a wash away in their hand, or you are paired against the mirror or every deck that yours sucks against. Not to mention that you play all of those decks over and over again. There is no randomization to pairings. I've literally never been paired against a jank deck. You know the ones that you can tell when your opponent hasn't been playing that long and can't really build a deck. It's allways top-tier decks that I'm paired against. Always my worst matchups. I don't spend money on Arena at all so that's obviously why. When you buy into the game it becomes more in your favor. Arena is trash.

A year later and it's more true than ever. Every Black deck has 4 very good removal spells, every White deck has broken creatures, and then you have Jodah and Toxrill mixed in, and THEN you have Cityscape Leveler and Portal to Phyrexia. There's been 0 room for jank decks ever since BRO, and I can't see that improving with New New Phyrexia.

The arena team can barely add cosmetics to Arena without breaking the game entirely due to their incompetence. Can you imagine the disaster to follow if they attempted a true multiplayer format? Arena devs are too inept.
