What Is Missing
Hi, I have been playing MTG Arena for a while and just wanted to comment on some of the recent changes and how I view them as a user, but more importantly I wanted to provide some suggestions.
1) Alchemy was interesting in concept but it looks like it was rushed from an execution standpoint. The packs, for example, look uninspiring. Why should I want them? I understand there might be some interesting cards, but if I'm to set aside kayfabe for a moment, you're effectively monetizing/productizing patched content into a (mandatory?) format. That already sounds pretty lame. I'd rather just play a new set that doesn't feel like it was also rushed out the door so quickly that it required a patch set to be released immediately afterward. Do you get what I am suggesting? You worked yourself into a shoot and you turned QA and R&D into a /paid/ product. I can completely understand how this could happen, as product designers tend to build products to solve problems, but sometimes it's worth taking a long, hard look at what the underlying problems are.
2) Players should be able to set a personal list of banned cards for casual play. Maybe it's worth an experiment. It might also provide you with valuable information about your cards. I'd enjoy the game more if I could pick a few cards I'm not interested in playing or playing against. As long as my opponent doesn't have those cards, what difference does it make?
3) I wish I could set the play area to something other than randomly selected stuff. That would be more valuable to me than purchasing avatars, sleeves, or emotes.
