Can't ninjutsu after dealing damage
I read about an advanced use of the ninjustsu mechanic on Draftsim that read as follows: "Understand that you have the option to ninjutsu an unblocked creature at any point after the declare blockers step all the way up to the end of combat step. This means that I can hit you with my Kappa Tech-Wrecker, remove its deathtouch counter to exile something, and then ninjutsu it into my hand during the damage step after damage has been dealt" (https://draftsim.com/mtg-neo-draft-guide/#Ninjutsu).
After picking Kappa Tech Wrecker early in a draft yesterday, I built around this idea, selecting lots of ninjas and deprioritizing removal since bringing Kappa back to hand would reset his counter. In games, I couldn't pull it off, however. I'd go to play a ninja after hitting with Kappa, but I only had the option of hard casting. Ninjutsu wasn't ever an option.
Looking at Reddit this morning (https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicArena/comments/taxbar/ninjutsu_question/), it seems this use of the ninjutsu mechanic can only be used if the game is set to full control. That's a bad design for a staple mechanic of the set. By contrast, with full control off, I still had to decline to use Tamiyo's Safeguarding in at least a dozen situations yesterday where it had no chance of being relevant.
If it's possible, I'd love to have the Quick Draft reset. I went 3-3. Take back the pack and gems reward. I'd gladly play with the deck I built all over with the ability, now, to actually use the ninjutsu mechanic as intended, even if the results don't improve for me
