Banned card played in Standard event
I played in a Standard event on 14 April 2022 and faced an opponent with Alrund's Epiphany in their deck. This card was banned on 25 January. I logged a support ticket and received the response "If a deck is submitted for an event prior to a card within being banned, the deck will not be checked again during the event. This can cause the banned card to show up in games until the customer finishes the event or the event ends.". I was then directed to this forum to submit formal feedback.
This card was banned in January. It seems like I got extremely unlucky to find an opponent who signed up for a Standard event around 3 months ago and decided to continue now?
Regardless of the rules, this does not seem like a fair system as it’s not reasonable to expect to play against cards that were banned in the format months ago. Particularly when I only signed up for Arena in February, so the card has never been legal in the entire time I’ve been playing.
I understand that players should have the opportunity to complete an event once they've started it, but it does not seem reasonable to give them an unlimited period of time to do so. By giving them this option you have punished every unsuspecting opponent they faced.
