I finally figured it out! You have to tap your blocker, then tap the attacker (dragging doesn't work). The problem is, the tutorial prompt is in the way! So you have to carefully tap the attacker without touching the black/white text box!

This bug was reported back in 2021. It's 2024 and I'm having this same issue. How is it possible for a bug to STILL be present? if a game-killing bug shows up this early in the tutorial and STILL exists, I can't imagine how bad the rest of the game must be.

Yeah multiple times still can’t get pass tutorial

I have the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Cannot assign blockers and all it allows me to do is concede the game or examine the cards.

Still happening, ios, iPad Air 2, most updated version of both ios and Arena, can't post a new error because as soon as you try to post a new subject in the bug report, it redirects you to searching other people's trash and commenting on theirs. LIKE THIS. I am about to just delete the dang app at this point. It's 2023... I am guessing they fixed the bug for other platforms and skipped ios... ?!?!?
