Registering for an Arena Event then playing after a ban takes effect should not be a cheat code
Today, October 21 2022, my opponent in an Arena Standard Event played a Meathook Massacre.
I understand the workaround: they registered their deck for the event before the ban took place, then didn't start playing the event until after said ban.
I don't care.
The ban on Arena took place two or three days after it was announced -- plenty of time for players to complete events. Even if you disagree, there is no good reason to allow them to cheat the rest of us out of our time and money.
Simply enforce the ban on registered event decks. Use a check similar to the one that tells us our decks aren't legal in their intended format. Three ideas how to handle it:
1) Allow players to revise (one time only) the deck mid-event by replacing the illegal cards. Seems complicated, but it's one idea.
2) Don't allow decks with illegal cards to start a game. Too bad, we warned you days ago; you'll have to resign because we don't like cheating. The simplest option.
3) Drop illegal decks from events when the ban takes place and refund the players their event registration, or perhaps reward them for their progress if they're past the "break even" point of 4 wins. Probably the most fair option.
Bottom line bug report:
1) Register for an Arena event with a deck that includes cards that will soon be banned.
2) Begin a game after the ban takes effect, and you'll be able to play using the banned cards.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD REASON to allow this. The deck is using illegal cards.
Please fix this. It's the only fair thing to do.
Thanks
