blade of shared souls interaction with eye of malcator
while playing in premier draft, this interaction happened twice and did not resolve as i expected.
- play Eye of Malcator
- next turn, play Blade of Shared Souls. artifact entering the board triggers Eye of Malcator
- resolve Eye of Malcator as a creature for the turn
- For Mirrodin effect of Blade of Shared Souls resolves, and then asks me which creature i would like to copy
- target Eye of Malcator, which the game presents as a valid target
- instead of the rebel token copying Eye of Malcator, Blade of Shared Souls completely unequips itself from the rebel token and it does not copy Eye of Malcator
in that instance, i would expect for the rebel token to not only become a copy of Eye of Malcator, but i would certainly expect the blade to remain equippped. please let me know if this is correct if it can be reproduced. thanks

Eye of Malcator is a creature when you targeted it with Blade of Shared Souls, but the copy would be a copy of the printed version of Eye, so it would become an Artifact and lose the type Creature. Equipment can't be equipped to noncreature permanents, so it would become unattached, which would end the copy effect.
