I played kami of whispered hopes and expected to tap it for one mana since it says: tap to add x mana where x is the power of it.
it was not possible to tap it for mana.

As a creature it suffers from summoning sickness. You have to have continuously controlled it since your most recent turn began to use its tap ability.
