Constructed Format for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth cards
With the upcoming new set The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, right now there does not seem to be a good place for ordinary constructed Magic: The Gathering players to play these cards. As a result, they don't have any good reason to draft these cards.
Here are three reasonable suggestions to improve the game and make these cards viable for ordinary constructed players.
Create a The Lord of the Rings constructed format with its own ranked ladder, and keep it available every day for at least two years. This would be the same format planned for the upcoming Mid-Week Magic event, but just available every day (and ranked).
Create an Arena-Modern format, similar to how Explorer is Arena-Pioneer. This format would contain all the cards on Arena that are Modern-legal, including The Lord of the Rings.
Create a new variant of Historic that does not use any Alchemy cards, or any of the nerfed/buffed or digital-only cards. This format would allow cards from The Lord of the Rings, but would not require ordinary players to play with (or against) any Alchemy cards.
