Serra's Emissary bug, didn't protect from own Sorcery
I played Serra's Emissary and selected Sorcery, then cast Day of Judgement, and it destroyed my creatures as well as the opponent's. The card says nothing about protection from the enemy's selected-card-type, so it should protect both. Later in same game the opponent cast a sorcery and it likewise wiped out my creatures (after I cast a different Serra's Emissary.

Protection doesn't stop non-targeting effects unless they're damage. All Protection does is prevent all damage from those sources, prevent blocking by creatures that fit the criteria, and stop targeting by those sources. "Destroy all creatures" will still destroy all creatures, even through Protection.
