After playing for years with no issues, I have this problem now. Takes 20 minutes to "gather files" every startup. Tried reinstalling several times, to different folders, then using the steam client, nothing worked.

im also stuck on "Gahtering local files 98%" (mac book air) no problem with the mobile version. 2 weeks ago when i tried the last time i had the error "Updating Data“ issue. pls help!

Same here…using on my pc w/o steam. And the gathering local files problem just started happening prior to the open, actually took my first loss due to not being able to reboot quickly. On my iPad the game runs smooth, stable, and fast. Would be nice for wizards to help with a fix or anything since it seems to be a common pc issue

It used to be that restarting my computer would fix this issue, but now it doesn't anymore. Game loads fine on my tablet, not on steam.

I'm not messing with the registry editor.

same thing happening to me, it also drops a "lost connection to server" message once it reaches 97%
