state of the game client
Just returned after a break of 7 months. And i feel like the client is in a horrible state, which denies the basis for serious competitive play. (i'm running a windows 10 desktop PC, which should be the best working environment for the client; no mobile version, no android, no mac)
- 50% of the time when i start the client, it´s getting stuck in a loading screen. so i have to restart it
- often disconnects from the server for no reason, while my internet-connection is fine
- 90% of the time i use the reconnect button, it has no effect
- when restarting the game, the client starts gathering files first, before reconnecting into a running match-up. which 90% of the times results in a lose due to timers being spend. while still 50% of the times i have to restart the client multiple times, because it gets totally stuck in the loading screen
- when you try to open a link from the ingame mail-box, for example "Arena Weekly Announcements", a new tab opens up on the browser which leads you to a dead web-site and you get reconnected to the main-page of mtg-arena. you never get to read the article which is linked in the ingame-mailbox.
Questions:
- why is this piece of software so poorly maintained?
- who came up with the idea to gather local files each single time you start the client?
- why is there a reconnect button, when it doesn't reconnect you to the game?
- how can you provide competitive game-content (ranked play, draft, sealed, arena open) with this highly fragile connection-issue
- when will we be able to follow a link from the ingame mailbox to the correct website to read those announcements? this issue exists since you implemented the ingame mailbox
