Upkeep lost tactic
WIth no Upkeep "stuff" going on... you used to be able to use a Icy Manipulator or other cards to tap Land for example during someone's Upkeep. Say they had 1 Island and 10 Swamps.... if you tapped that one Island during the upkeep, you could stop them from casting a blue spell. Or a creature that activates with tapping only during main phase/as a sorcery... tapped during upkeep to stop it. Upkeep phase is super important. Icy Manipulator was very very dangerous way back when. Use it to tap a creature then kill it with a Royal Assassin. Lost strategy with the lack of Upkeep stuff.
