Delighted Halfling mana used to cast legendary still countered
Delighted halfling on the field, manually tap it to add colorless mana. Proceed to cast God-Pharaoh's Statue, a Legendary artifact, thereby meeting the legendary condition of halfling, mana. Baral player casts a generic counter, and statue goes to yard. Super confused because i have used delighted halfling before in arena to cast legendary, and even the statue itself, and was not countered. Is the statue not coded legendary? or did the spell override that somehow when it shouldnt have?

You tapped the Halfling for colorless mana by using the first mana ability. To get the counter protection you have to use the second mana ability, tapping it for COLORED mana.
