I was playing in brawl, then I casted a Patriar's Humiliation on my opponent commander.
I response, he wiped oup the battlefield with a Farewell, so his commander came back to his commander zone, and my opponent erased the permanent effect of the Humiliation.
However, the commander cost did not increase after that.

I guess it is not how it is supposed to work.
