Virulent Plague / Gift a Fish
When I have Virulent Plague on the battlefield, I can no longer gift a fish to my opponents. If I understand the rules, there should be no reason I cannot create a fish token under my opponents control that immediately dies.
Gift a Fish reads: "You may promise your opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they create a tapped fish token before it's other effects."
I don't target my opponent with the effect, so should bypass protection or hexproof.
The opponent creates the fish. Virulent plague doesn't make them unable to make the fish, they are making a token that has 0 toughness and dies when state based affects are checked.
The spell isn't working, even before it goes on the stack, but the token would be created after the spell resolves from the stack. There isn't any reason I can think of that won't put the spell on the stack with the Gift a Fish option, unless there is some crazy layers rules I don't understand.
Mind Spiral lets me click the spell option to gift the fish, then resets my UI back to looking at my hand with nothing being cast.
Sazacap's Brew doesn't let me choose the Gift a Fish option at all.
Please help to fix this bug. Trespasser's curse is my favourite deck and I've been wanting to test these cards out in this build for a couple months now.
