Using Sarkhan, Soul Aflame's ability to copy Shivan Devastator resulted in Sarkhan going to graveyard instead.

You turned Sarkhan into a 0/0, so of course he died. The counters on Shivan Devastator are not copied, only the base characteristics (plus other copy effects, and other layer 1 effects like being face down) are copied.
