Gems not awarded when collecting a 5th copy of a card
Gems are not being awarded when getting a 5th card from a booster pack.
I have suspected this for a while, but just confirmed it, but didnt get a picture.
I just opened 3 MKM packs received from the mastery pass, and checked which cards I had 4 copies of before, which included Magnifying Glass. I had 1290 gems. Once I opened the pack I received another copy of magnifying glass and no other rewards.

Ah, I see. Is that listed somewhere? The only thing I found was a mention of getting gems for excess cards in the Codex of the Multiverse.
Under the vault on the wildcard screen it also says to collect cards to unlock the vault which is true, but does not tell the real thing that fills it. -

Gems are only given for excess copies of rares and mythics (20 gems for a rare, 40 for a mythic). Excess commons and uncommons contribute to the vault (0.1% for a common, 0.3% for a rare). A 100% vault get you 6 wildcards (3 uncommon, 2 rare, 1 mythic).
