Same thing happened to me. They opened up with 2 Leylines of Hope. A few turn later, they were at 20 life, (brought down frome 23) and attacked with 3 1/1 flyers. They should have only gone up to 23 life, but instead they went up to 29. The creatures were 2 healer's hawks and a bat.

The two Leonin Vanguards gained life at the beginning of combat, 1 each normally, so 3 each due to both Leylines. Opponent thus was at 26. Healers Hawk hit you for 1, gaining another 3 life due to the Leylines.
