consumed by greed bug
i was playing bloomburrow quick draft and my opponent played consumed by greed with the gift. so I drew a card which happened to be a counter that was an instant. I had plenty of mana I should have been able to react but instead it just sacrificed my creature instead.

gifting is part of playing consumed by greed and resolves as part of the whole play. They both happen simultaneously so the card drawn can't be used in response. Your response must be before the gift takes place.
