Maximum Overdrive
I have found that I could not play Maximum Overdrive as an instant to prevent creatures from being destroyed. I mean to say that I had mana available to cast the card, and even after the opponent cast a sorcery, I could not cast Maximum Overdrive to the stack. I'm sure this turned out to be the deciding factor in at least one ranked match - and I'm not that good, but I'm fairly sure that nothing should have prevented that casting.
