Reusable Wildcard Slots (and how they would increase profit)
The proposal: Offer a single reusable wildcard slot per deck that can stand in for any card without consuming a regular wildcard.
Why it's good for the game:
- Players can experiment with one card freely, increasing deck variety.
- The wildcard slot will allow players to deviate from metadecks without a fear of wasting wildcards, increasing game variety by reducing the amount of exactly identical decks.
Why it's good for profit:
- When sold as a one-time-purchase account upgrade it will reach a large group of players who would otherwise be reluctant to spend money on temporary or consumable content.
- Allowing players to try out cards before they craft them will make it easier for player to spend their wildcards rather than hoarding them, which should eventually increase wildcard sales.
Possible implementations:
- Sell it as a one-time-purchase account upgrade, possibly as part of a bundle. As mentioned before, this would appeal to a lot of players why are currently not spending any money on the game.
- Add it as a temporary upgrade to the mastery pass. This will incentivize players to buy the mastery pass early, instead of waiting (and potentially not buying) until they fully unlocked it.
- Give it to everyone for free (One can hope 🙂)
I'm not a marketing expert, and I'm probably shouting into a void here, but I just wanted to vent this idea.
