Shuffler Improbability
In multiple formats, but primarily Premier Draft, I all too often encounter scenarios where I have declining chances of drawing a land from about 27% (sometimes less) but proceed to draw lands for 3 straight turns. This is with no shuffling or deck stacking in many cases. It should be almost impossible for this to happen repeatedly within the small number of games I play each week (generally just enough to get 15 weekly wins, maybe 30 games if my win rate is not being tanked by the situation described here). The odds of this happening in even 4 of 30 games is 0.033%.
This happens week-to-week making the odds all the more minuscule. I resort on most occasions to playing 15 or 16 lands instead of 17 as a result but still get flooded all the time. In fact, my general sense is I get mana-screwed more often when I run 17 which makes little sense.
