Creature did not return to the battlefield after being exiled with personify
I casted personify on my reluctant dounguard during a single elimination quick draft match. I got a check question if I was sure I wanted to target that creature. After resolving Personify, it did not return the Dounguard to the battlefield, but I did get the shapeshifter token. The Reluctant Dounguard was nowhere to be found, not even in my exile area.
I was playing on IOS on my iPad.

Was it a token copy, or a token made into a copy of the Dounguard? Because tokens cannot return to the battlefield once they leave it, no matter how briefly. They then cease to exist with the next check of state based actions.
