MTG Arena not allowing me to respond with instants
I had an available red mana source and a redirect lightning in hand.
Opponent casts shock -- the game does not allow me to respond.
Next turn I have 2W and 2R untapped.
Opponent moves to attack phase and I an not able to respond with unwanted remake.

They most likely had Voice of Victory on the field, not letting you cast spells during their turn.
