The idiot is most likely you, confusing the order in which the target and sacrifice are chosen. Your are first asked to select a target to exile, THEN a creature to sacrifice. If you chose what you want to sacrifice first, well, that's the target now, the second choice is the sacrifice. Read what the game is asking you to select.
