sorcery abilities not being able to be countered
So i had this happen a couple of times now. I have a counter spell, and my opponent wants to activate a sorcery ability on a creature. Let's say configure. Configure is a sorcery ability. It literally says activate as a sorcery. Well you see. These abilities are not able to be countered by normal counter spells. By that i mean counter spells that target instants, and sorceries. And, also call me an idiot, but this does not make sense. Like if an ability says : "activate only as a sorcery". Then it should be counted as a sorcery.

"Activate only as a sorecery" is shorthand for sorcery timing. Nothing about an ability will ever make it a sorcery, it's all just about the timing and restrictions of sorceries.
307.5. If a spell, ability, or effect states that a player can do something only “any time they could cast a
sorcery” or “only as a sorcery,” it means only that the player must have priority, it must be during
the main phase of their turn, and the stack must be empty. The player doesn’t need to have a sorcery
card they could cast. Effects that would preclude that player from casting a sorcery spell don’t affect
the player’s capability to perform that action (unless the action is actually casting a sorcery spell). -

Also i get it activates at sorcery speed, but that's different to what i am saying. I am saying if it says on a card it is a sorcery. Then it should be a sorcery.
