Ability losing does not trump type changes, because type changes happen in layer 4 whereas ability losing happens in layer 6. So type changes always happen first. Same goes for a lot of other popular cards, like Kaito, Ashaya, Kudo, Ygra, etc. If there's a type change involved, ability losing will not stop the ability.
