Witness Protection on Ragost Deft Gastronaut still grants artifacts Food and Sac for Life
I played Witness Protection on Ragost Deft Gastronaut (or commander of similar name, costs 1 red 1 white) and yet their artifacts still all gained the Food subtype and the ability to sac for life.

And that is not a bug. Since the ability's effect includes a type change (making artifacts into Food), it starts applying in layer 4, long before the ability is lost in layer 6. And due to rule 613.6, once an effect starts to apply, it gets to apply fully, even if parts of the effect come after the ability generating the effect is lost.
