Urza"s Ruinous Blast
I had the card in hand, had enough mana, and there were no card effects stopping me from playing it, could even play other sorceries from hand. The game would not let me cast the card.

Legendary instants and sorceries require you to have a legendary creature or planeswalker on the field to cast them. That's the rules for them.
