exiling a creature
so i have the color mastery quest for exiling 150 creatures. to get there a bit quicker, i was trying to run a kotis the fangkeeper commander deck. kotis EXILES cards off the top of my opponents library, i then get to cast a number of them depending on the damage i do. Why do creatures exiled this way not count as me having exiled creatures?

You exiled creature CARDS, not creatures. Creatures only exist on the battlefield, you have to exile them from there. The achievements are the same in that regard to how the game looks at such descriptors.
109.2. If a spell or ability uses a description of an object that includes a card type or subtype, but
