opponent cast abrade, and I should’ve had a chance to respond with my shardmage’s rescue, instead his spell resolved immediately

Same issue with no Shardmage's rescue not holding priority when opponent targets my creature with removal. Mana is available. There should be a stop after the opponent pays the ward 2 on Wonderweave Aerialist.
