algorythm
I have been playing Arena since Beta. I used to grind Mythic every month for at least a year. Upon the release of one of their sets recently (around the time of Lorwyn Elipsed) I started to notice a major difference in gameplay. It became much more of a coin flip rather than skill or actual top decking. I started noticing, mind you I only play Brawl for the most part, that even with 100 card decks if someone was playing blue, they always opened with mana drain/counterspell. If they were playing black they always had thoughtseize. If they were playing green they always had a turn 1 mana dork. At first I was thinking, ok I mean people run a lot of mana dorks or hey maybe thoughtseize just happens to be in their opening hand a lot of the time is what it is. Recently however, I have been noticing playing the same deck for days straight in Brawl nets me completely different results based on time of day I play, amount of rare/mythic cards in my deck, queue times affected by deck build. For example, I built a Golos, Tireless Pilgrim deck with just Izzet colors. It was focused on storming off with a lot of spells focused on thousand year storm. When queueing up with this deck it literally took about 2.5-3 minutes to find a match every single time I queued. I played about 4 matches and got tired of having to wait so long so I switched to Pioneer thinking Brawl just didnt have a lot of people playing. After a couple games of Pioneer, I switched back to Brawl with my Kroxa and Kurnoros deck. I played 4 matches taking no longer than 35 seconds to 1 minute queue time for each match. Curious, I switched back to my Golos Izzet only deck and, sure enough, another 4 minute queue time. Obviously, it was difficult for your algorythm to find a good counter to my deck because my deck made no sense according to your source code that makes up the algorythm. After noticing this I realized now, i either win because I have a better opening hand or I lose because my opponent just had the absolute nuts. Arena no longer takes skill, thought, or strategy. I built a deck centered around Teval, The Balanced Scale, because I love milling, reanimating, summoning tokens, etc...Mind you I had been playing a control deck for a while with mixed results, but whatever it is a control deck you either top deck a counter spell or you dont. When I started playing Teval, I immediately started queueing against graveyard hate decks; Ketramose, Esper Control (Raffeine, Y'shtola), Professor Dellian with a sus amount of graveyard hate in my opponents opening hand. At this point I said, okay this is a little bit ridiculous. I never played against ANY of those brawl decks in MONTHS but the moment I made a deck focused on using my graveyard...I started queueing against them over and over and over again. I sign on after not playing for a couple days because I am busy and I play against 2 Hei Bei decks in a row that upon summoning their Hei Bei, hit Sanctum of all first enchantment both games. So you mean to tell me in a 100 card deck and 2 matches, the exact same enchantment hit in both games? Makes zero sense. I have no realized that you have an algorythm in place to force wins and losses upon you no matter how or what you play. It has completely ruined Magic for me. I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars on paper Magic after having spent a ton of money on Arena, but now I do not even feel like getting on Arena anymore. It is a disgrace to Magic the Gathering how you implement this forced win/loss feature in a game that is supposed to be based on skill,. strategy, and just a tiny amount of luck. The entire match is not supposed to be based on whose turn it is to lose or win based on their win/loss ratio overall for the past couple of games played.
