Could not activate instant in response to a sorcery
I had an instant and mana available to respond to a fight spell, which does not have split second and no block spells were present

A fight spell has TWO targets, so is not a legal target for Redirect Lightning, which can only target a spell with exactly ONE target. You could notr cast your spell for lack of legal target.
