Ultima Weapon + Unexpected Request = Target Wrong Player Bug
The opponent equipped a creature with Ultima Weapon, with the ability "destroy target creature an opponent controls." I played Unexpected Request to "Gain control of target creature until end of turn" to control the creature with Ultima Weapon equipped. When using that creature to attack, the opponent was given the choice to destroy one of my creatures. I should have had the ability to destroy one of their creatures while control the creature with Ultima Weapon equipped.

The trigger comes from the equipment, not the creature. And while you did take control of the creature, you did not take control of the equipment attached to it. That remained under your opponent's control. So when you attacked with the creature, your opponent as controller of the equipment got the trigger and had to target a creature THEIR opponent, you, controlled.
An equipment can be attached to a creature you do not control, same with auras. It's just that the equip ability can only target a creature you control. Casting a Pacifism on an opponent's creature does not make the opponent the controller of the aura. Taking control of a creature is one way to have a creature with an opponent's equipment attached to it.
