Historic Pauper!
An Open Letter to WOTC and the MTG Arena team
Hello!
I just wanted to write in on behalf of myself and the Historic Pauper community (I'm a moderator in a Historic Pauper Discord server and have been staff/the organizer for approximately half of the Historic Pauper events on MTG Melee) to say that we loved the FNM event. Many of us have played hundreds of games in official MTG Arena events while also playing hundreds (if not thousands) more in player run events or casual matches.
We are all looking forward to the next Historic Pauper event!
Cheers,
PlatypusJedi
P.S. I wanted to note that Ancestral Mask does reduce the number of viable decks in the format (this is magnified by it being Best of One as Hexproof creatures are even more difficult to deal with absent sideboards). I would recommend considering a ban in the official MTG Arena queues when they come around again. My server and other organizers have banned Ancestral Mask (in addition to your ban of Persistent Petitioners). This ban has led to a much more diverse metagame.

Hello, I think this format is fantastic. It is an excellent $$$ making opportunity for WOTC since all WC's have the same theoretical value. Promoting this format encourages the player base to use common wildcards.
I think an important first step in promoting this format is making Historic Pauper a permanent deck building option.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed. More Historic Pauper, more options to play, more reason to buy packs and acquire those ever-dwindling Common Wild Cards! (Speaking of which, would it hurt to include some number of Common WCs to Vault openings? Four would follow the trend set by the other rarities.)
While I'm loathe to call for a banning, the exclusion of Ancestral Mask in the Arena Pauper Discord matches has indeed led to an incredibly diverse metagame, where there never seems to be enough Sideboard slots for the Best of 3 tournaments. The next time Historic Pauper returns I'm sure it would increase the metagame share of a lot of decks if Ancestral Mask was tossed onto the banned list along with Persistent Petitioners.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to the next Historic Pauper event on Arena, whatever shape it may take.
Best,
Jimmy

100% on board with having FNM pauper be a more regular occurrence. I would ideally like to see it become a format that is always available for casual play, preferably best of 3

I also vouch for more (Historic) Pauper on MTG Arena.
The last big Historic Pauper Event, playing for gold and card rewards, was March 28 2020 – April 4 2020, which is a long time ago. I'm glad there are the occasional smaller event via FNM which I absolutely love.
I hope there is a place for Pauper on MTGA as a format similar to Brawl and/or as monthly recurring events.
All the best,
Jaap
