Hexproof problems
Hi, I have detected a malfunction in the mechanics of hexproof and in the more particular mechanic of the Iron-Scaled Hydra, albeit similar.
CASE FIRST, more precisely found with the Rock-Armored Baloth, a card I use, against a player who used a lot of mass destruction creatures cards. I bring it to your attention because hexproof says:
"A player or permanent with hexproof can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control."
but it didn't work against cards like Strand the Wreck which reads: "Exile all attacking creatures opponent controlled ..." or Realm Collision: "Destroy all creatures",
these cards affect multiple permanents, but individuals are still targets of them, so they shouldn't destroy permanents with hexproof.
The same goes for cards that target the opposing player and make him sacrifice a creature. Here, the target is the player, but the permanent is still the target of an opponent-controlled ability / effect. I realize that this last point is a bit ambiguous and depends on your interests in handling the mechanics.
In the SECOND CASE, the iron-scaled Hydra, a beautiful card, reads: "If a creature would deal fight damage to the Iron-Scaled Hydra, prevent that damage and put a +1/+1 counter on the Iron-Scaled Hydra".
If this card battles with another creature, it can be destroyed. I know that battle and fight have different meanings but for what I imagine to be the background of the card it seemed right me to mention it.
(The same happens when the opponent uses a card like Mad Bite, cards that cause one creature to deal damage to another, after all Iron-Scaled Hydra casd says: "Put your bows down, fools! Arrows only make her angry!").
Thanks for your attention and have a nice day.
P.S.: I play on the phone
