Just tried the game after a few months to see if the bug has been fixed. Game still slows so much down during a match that it becomes unplayable on my MacBook Pro 2019. For a game where people actually spend money on it's unbelievable that this issue hasn't been fixed yet.

Recently I started to experience lag when I play decks that have a lot of graveyard or deck interaction. I primarily play control, so I see this lag all the time. This bug will either cause me to buy a new computer or stop playing.

I just got a new macbook pro, M2 and I can't get past the home screen. Whenever I try to do anything it stalls and I have to force quit the application. I'm very sad and kinda mad. I'm really mad actually. They shouldn't say MTGA works for Mac when it doesn't.

Well, Mac Mini M2 Pro, 16 RAM 512 ROM, crashes every 5-10 minutes....

I used to play Arena most days, and today I opened it up again wondering why I hadn't played in so long. Once I got into a match I remembered: the game is now unplayable.
The frame rate is so low that I am often getting timed out on an action before the UI even presents me with the choice. I can't play the game in its current state, even if I'm willing to sit through this, because other times it actually does time out. Or I miss my opponent's turn completely — I'm just presented with a new board state with no idea of how it got there.
When I actually did try to exit the program, performance was so bad I couldn't. It also managed to impact my OS performance, to the point where force quitting it took a solid 5 mins of trying to line my mouse up with the OS animations experiencing similar lag to Arena. The issues all stopped the moment I successfully quit Arena.
I've worked in software development for 15 years. Signing off on something like this to ship is unprofessional. Leaving it in production for this long is shameful.

"rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/com.wizards.mtga" resolved my issues.

It is lame how the game keeps breaking after updates... I don't know how you dare to ask for microtransactions when the game can crush in the middle of a draft. That is the opposite to a proffesional work... Fix your game first, then you can ask for money to the users...

I'm seeing this too; performance occasional just becomes absolutely abysmal; it not only freezes the MTG client, but basically everything else on my Mac as well. It's like there's an infinite loop in the UI that's not being interrupted frequently enough or something of the sort.
The poor performance is definitely related to a bug, and not a general thing with my system, because about half the time gameplay works just fine. I've also seen instances where the terrible performance problem is intermittent within a game; usually it will start and/or stop with some action that produces a significant animation (even though I have quality set to Low) rather than just during normal game play (though once the performance craters, it affects everything.)
Also, this issue *seems* to be more common when my opponent has a pet out, although I'm not 100% certain that that's related.

anyone know a fix to the game crashing (waiting for server, or just black screen, or screen freezing) every 5 min or randomly at game ends? Considering stopping to play the game, because it's really annoying. Only improvement is that the game still remembers whether you won a game or not after crashing, so at least I don't lose the credits for winning (like 1-2 years ago)...

This is still not fixed after the last expansion, and now I am experiencing it in Limited.. games that are actually costing me money to play! Just lost a game due to frame rate dropping to basically zero for a full 10 minutes. This is unacceptable.

Just adding my name to the pile here I guess. Mac User.. but the game is unplayable, at least in Standard. For some reason, I don't have issues in Limited, but I can't get more than a few turns into any other game without the frame rate dropping to basically nothing. Pretty sad.. like others I have dropped literally thousands of dollars on this game over the years and it's now unplayable. (lol.. realizing I'm using my FTP account to post this comment)

Unplayable at the moment on my iOS. I can't even get out of the menus once the slightest animation (choosing deck, changing sleeves, opening packs, etc.) pops up. This is new, seemingly since the last patch. I hope there can be a fix soon.

Seems now the animated sleeves are back to tanking performance. Completely unplayable if either player uses animated sleeves. This is absolutely unacceptable for a company of this size. Indie studios are able to produce a more functional game client than Wizards. Do better, this is ridiculous.
