Brawl Bug: Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior paired with companion Zirda, the Dawnwalker
I encountered an issue when creating a red/white equipment themed historic brawl deck with Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior as the commander and Zirda, the Dawnwalker as the companion.
To recreate the bug simply create a new historic brawl deck with Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior as the commander, red set as the secondary colour, and Zirda, the Dawnwalker set as the companion. Then fill the deck with plains.
Zirda, the Dawnwalker is unable to be used as a companion even though red is set as the secondary colour for Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior.
Setting a different red/white commander with Zirda, the Dawnwalker as the companion and putting Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior in the deck does not invalidate the companion. So this led me to think the issue was with the interaction between a companion and a commander.
So I made a test with another commander with specialize and another companion; Saervok the Usurper, as the commander with green as the secondary colour, and Umori, the collector as the companion.
Much to my surprise this black/green pair does not invalidate the companion!
Like the Black/Green companion/commander pair, Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior does fulfil both the colour parameter of Zirda, the dawnwalker, and the additional requirement of having an activated ability(Specialize). Yet when setting that pair as the commander+companion it is stated in MTGA that the condition of Zirda, the dawnwalker is not met.
I propose that this bug is looked at and corrected!

I encountered this same bug with Klement, Novice Acolyte and Lurrus of the Dream-Den. For what it's worth, it seems to me like both the base commander and the specialized version of the color you've chosen have to satisfy the companion's requirement. This is consistent with your examples as well as what I observed:
- "Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior" has an activated ability, but "Lae'zel, Wrathful Warrior" does not, so Zirda's requirement is not met.
- "Sarevok the Usurper" and "Sarevok, Mighty Usurper" are both creatures, so Umori is satisfied.
- "Klement, Novice Acolyte" is below 2 mana value, but "Klement, Death Acolyte" is not, so Lurrus can't be a companion.I don't know if this is intended behavior. Seems like a bug to me.
