Problems with you can't lose the game effects
Approximately three minutes ago I was playing a game with cloudsteel kirin equipped to an angel and the opponent didn't have any instant win effects available or any instant loss effects or any means of removing the cloudsteel kirin or the equipped creature from the battlefield. I was at 5 life prior to the opponent attacking me. They had a combo that allowed them to gain 4 life off of each token that enters their side of the battlefield or 2 life off of any nontoken that enters
the battlefield through sol warden. They also have the ability to produce a number of tokens equal to the number of attacking creatures. They also had the 2 mana cleric that gets a +1/+1 counter when its controller gains life and gains flying, vigilance, and indestructible if it has 10 or more +1/+1 connectors on it. My opponent is attacking with 15 or more creatures and all but two only have a power/ toughness above 1/1 one was Edgar Markov and the other was the cleric with a power/ toughness of 250/250. Lots of creatures enter the battlefield and then I have the opportunity to attempt to block when it gets to the declare blockers step but I never get the opportunity to do that and instead this causes close to 150 actions to be placed on the stack and my timer starts to run down but I don't have any actions that I can take at this point in time so I'm completely confused why my timer is running out but my opponent has suddenly gained two more timers when they had already run out three timers prior to the huge number of triggers. So my three timer fuses run out completely and I'm confused about how my timer is running out. A few minutes later another set of timers for me shows up and then they run out and then a third set. I still haven't had any opportunities to take any actions but I should still be perfectly fine however the game completely bypassed my ability to block but I should still be perfectly fine because of cloudsteel kirin equipped to my creature but I'm not because they end their turn and I draw my card only to immediately die. I'm fairly certain what happened is that the automatic timer screwed up and instead of properly applying to my opponent it was applying it to me. This is an old glitch and anyone who knows how to trigger it can almost on command. It almost always happens when you cause a large number of effects to be placed on the stack during a transition between steps or phases of turns. It gets substantially worse if they are automatically triggered or if it would require the opponent to make one or more decisions in the next step. It also has a much greater likelihood to happen when any arena only mechanics are in use or if it doesn't cause am infinite loop but a very large number of effects to be placed on the stack. The worst mechanics to cause the problem are perpetual however those are not the only cause the biggest problem is that the opponent is able to trigger enough instances of a single ability to enter the stack which locks up any possible actions that the player not causing the ability spam to lose all capacity to play.
